| Our take | The original R410A HD55, sold as a 113-pint unit, with no 65°F rating on record. Buy the HD55S instead, which has one. | The whole-house dehumidifier we'd duct into a humid forced-air house or put in a large sealed crawl space above the mid-50s: 85 pints/day at 73°F, ENERGY STAR Most Efficient. Standalone, it mostly dries its own room. |

| Watch out for | Three units share the HD55 name: the original HD55 (R410A), the HD55S (R32, ENERGY STAR, gravity drain) and the HD55P (built-in pump). Not in the ENERGY STAR certified data. | ENERGY STAR's 85 pints/day is at the 73°F whole-home test; don't line it up against a portable's 65°F rating. Dehumidifies only above 50°F inlet air and a 40°F dew point; a crawl space that drops below that in winter leaves it idle. The 5,500 sq ft coverage claim is the maker's; size by moisture load, and duct it if you want it to dry more than its own room. Amazon's "E100 Pro" and "E100P" are listing and bundle names, not AprilAire models. |
