Our takeOur 8,000 BTU box-unit pick for 300-340 sq ft: CEER 11.4, three speeds, Energy Saver and the LW8016ER's long owner record. It weighs 58 lb, and only a third-party seller had it on Amazon when we checked. Our window heat pump pick for cooling plus spring and fall heat: CEER 14.5, Most Efficient, sold by Amazon. The heat pump shuts off below 41°F outside, so pair it with a space heater anywhere it freezes.

Watch out forEnergy Saver turns itself back on every time the unit is switched on. LW8016ER owners report fan-bearing whine that worsens; interior cleaning is for authorized service per the manual. Not the LW8024R, a lighter 44 lb LG chassis with no Energy Saver.Below 41°F outside the unit shuts off and shows LO (manual); owners who checked found no firmware that lowers it. Owners report rattles in the first days; adhesive foam at contact points helps if the cause is the window or bracket. A conventional box unit, not U-shaped; Midea's U models have no heat mode.
