Our takeThe 2022 LG 8,000 BTU inverter, a box unit that fits a sash opening a little shorter than the Midea U needs. Most owner reports of LG's room-temperature misreading come from this generation. Our window heat pump pick for cooling plus spring and fall heat: CEER 14.5, Most Efficient, sold by Amazon. The heat pump shuts off below 41°F outside, so pair it with a space heater anywhere it freezes.

Watch out forOwners report the indoor reading running 5-6°F high on this model; check it against a separate thermometer. LG's current 8,000-class unit is the 8,500 BTU LW8024IVSM, a larger 85 lb chassis.Below 41°F outside the unit shuts off and shows LO (manual); owners who checked found no firmware that lowers it. Owners report rattles in the first days; adhesive foam at contact points helps if the cause is the window or bracket. A conventional box unit, not U-shaped; Midea's U models have no heat mode.
