Our scoreSCORE5.2 / 10SCORE7.6 / 10
Our takeThe largest DIY Select, at 16.5 SEER2 with no published cold-weather figures we can cite. We'd look at the DIY 5th Gen or Easy Pro 24k instead.Makes less at 5°F than the 18K (20,000 vs 22,600) and NEEP files it as centrally ducted; the least-documented Elite size.

Watch out forMRCOOL's naming is inconsistent: its product data says "DIY Select 1st Gen" while the warranty is titled "5th Generation DIY Select Series". A "5th Gen" listing that says "Select" is this cheaper line. Model numbers start DIYS- (outdoor ends A11-O, wall unit A13-O); DIY- ...D25-O is the DIY 5th Gen. ENERGY STAR status conflicts: MRCOOL's catalog says certified, MRCOOL's product data and NEEP say no.Senville's FAQ says no to owner installs; warranty registration asks for the installing company and invoice. Senville's site lists higher HSPF2 than the AHRI figures on NEEP; we use the certified numbers. No published max line length for the 24K; Senville's page lists 24.0 SEER2 / 11.0 EER2 vs 25.0 / 14.0 on NEEP.
