Our takeThe whole-house dehumidifier we'd duct into a humid forced-air house or put in a large sealed crawl space above the mid-50s: 85 pints/day at 73°F, ENERGY STAR Most Efficient. Standalone, it mostly dries its own room.A familiar 50-pint box whose 50 is an old 80°F number, so size it as a 30-pint-class machine for a moderately damp basement. The Midea Cube 50 usually costs less and removes more water at the current test.

Watch out forENERGY STAR's 85 pints/day is at the 73°F whole-home test; don't line it up against a portable's 65°F rating. Dehumidifies only above 50°F inlet air and a 40°F dew point; a crawl space that drops below that in winter leaves it idle. The 5,500 sq ft coverage claim is the maker's; size by moisture load, and duct it if you want it to dry more than its own room. Amazon's "E100 Pro" and "E100P" are listing and bundle names, not AprilAire models. The 50 pints is the old 80°F test; ENERGY STAR's rough table puts an old-test 50 near 30 pints on today's 65°F test. hOmeLabs calls it ENERGY STAR rated, but we couldn't find either 50-pint model in ENERGY STAR's certified data. The MAX 120 pint figure in the Amazon title is measured at 95°F and 90% RH, above the unit's own 90°F operating limit. Owner failure reports name an earlier 4,500 sq ft generation (HME020031N) that shared this Amazon listing; they may not describe today's unit.
