Our takeOur pick for most PTAC buyers: R-32, 12,000 BTU/h cooling, 10,800 BTU/h of heat pump output and controls on the unit, for far less than the Amana J. Its listing says it fits a standard 42 in sleeve. The biggest current U, not recalled and rated CEER 15. We found no verified listing for it, and a 12,000 BTU unit on a shared 115V circuit deserves a check of what else is on that outlet.

Watch out forWarranty is 5-year limited from purchase; years 2-5 functional parts are parts-only, labor needs an authorized PTAC servicer, and faulty installation is excluded. A Daikin-made line sold under the Amana name; don't assume Amana J or K specs or controls carry over. Plug type isn't in any Distinctions document we could verify; read the cord tag and nameplate.CPSC recall #25320 (June 2025) covers the 8,000-12,000 BTU V1QWT, AV1QWT, W1QWT and U1QWT Midea U models over mold from pooled water. Read the suffix on the listing and again on the box label. The recalled 12,000 BTU models are MAW12V1QWT, MAW12AV1QWT, MAW12W1QWT and MAW12U1QWT.
