Our takeCompetent hardware with an honest 49.66-pint rating and a built-in pump good for about 15 feet, but the company behind its warranty is gone. Buy it only new, from a seller you can show is authorized, at a price close to a Midea Cube 50.Our default for a damp basement that stays above 41°F with a drain nearby: it ties the best 50-pint portables on certified pints and efficiency and usually costs less. Check its humidity reading against a hygrometer in the first week, and don't count on the one-year warranty past year one.

Watch out forThe licensee that made and backed these units says it's out of business; claims now go through a Honeywell Store form that excludes unauthorized sellers, and we can't confirm the Amazon seller is authorized. Honeywell's spec table lists a second capacity labeled 2019 DOE Standard (70 pints on the 50PWK, 48 on the 32WK). That label is backwards; shop on the ENERGY STAR figure. Honeywell's pages claim ENERGY STAR Most Efficient; ENERGY STAR's data says certified, not Most Efficient. The 4-year term covers only the compressor, coils and refrigerant tubing; the pump, fan, board and humidity sensor are one year.Check the built-in humidity reading against a separate hygrometer in week one; a stuck-near-30% or ~20-points-low reading on a new unit is a known return-window fault. Amazon sells Midea 50-pint units with near-identical titles that aren't Cubes (MAD50P1AWS-A, MAD50C1AWS-A). A Cube 50 model number starts MAD50S1 (no pump) or MAD50PS1 (pump). You lift the heavy top section off the bucket to empty it; run it on a hose if you can.
