Our takeOur 8,000 BTU box-unit pick for 300-340 sq ft: CEER 11.4, three speeds, Energy Saver and the LW8016ER's long owner record. It weighs 58 lb, and only a third-party seller had it on Amazon when we checked. The window unit we'd put in a bedroom first: inverter, compressor outside the glass, CEER 15 and a suffix that isn't recalled. Skip it if your window is short or you need heat; no U has a heat mode.

Watch out forEnergy Saver turns itself back on every time the unit is switched on. LW8016ER owners report fan-bearing whine that worsens; interior cleaning is for authorized service per the manual. Not the LW8024R, a lighter 44 lb LG chassis with no Energy Saver.CPSC recall #25320 (June 2025) covers the 8,000-12,000 BTU V1QWT, AV1QWT, W1QWT and U1QWT Midea U models over mold from pooled water. Read the suffix on the listing and again on the box label. Owners of earlier U models report a high-pitched inverter whine some people hear and others don't; buy where returns are easy and run it overnight on low fan in week one. When we checked in October 2026 this listing had no featured offer, only a third-party seller. Comfort Sense (remote sensor) fixes the built-in sensor's wrong room reading.
