Our takeSame ClearView shell as the inverter sizes, but a fixed-speed rotary compressor at CEER 11.5 and no ENERGY STAR listing. We'd skip it for a bedroom and buy an inverter unit at this size instead. Our quiet pick for a small bedroom: the closed sash sits between you and the compressor, and no 6,000 BTU U is on the recall list. The catch is fit, since it needs a 22-36 in single- or double-hung opening at least 13.75 in tall.

Watch out forLooks identical to the inverter PHNT10CC and PHNT12CC; only the model number tells you it's fixed-speed. GE's warranty is 1 year replace, repair or refund, with no labor coverage; inside the retailer's return window you go back to the store.CPSC recall #25320 (June 2025) covers the 8,000-12,000 BTU V1QWT, AV1QWT, W1QWT and U1QWT Midea U models over mold from pooled water. Read the suffix on the listing and again on the box label. Owners of earlier U models report a high-pitched inverter whine some people hear and others don't; buy where returns are easy and run it overnight on low fan in week one. The built-in sensor misreads room temperature; turn on Comfort Sense (the remote's sensor) on day one.
