| Our take | A certified 50 that runs down to 38°F, with Wi-Fi and in-home warranty service. Run it on a hose, because the 14.3-pint bucket fills in about seven hours, and expect it to rest for an hour after every 23 hours of nonstop running. | Our default for a damp basement that stays above 41°F with a drain nearby: it ties the best 50-pint portables on certified pints and efficiency and usually costs less. Check its humidity reading against a hygrometer in the first week, and don't count on the one-year warranty past year one. |

| Watch out for | LG's 'about 50 pints' footnote is a Boost-mode test; Boost runs high fan and returns to Auto after an hour. The certified figure is ENERGY STAR's 49.81. After 23 hours of nonstop running it stops for an hour, which caps a nonstop day at about 47.7 pints at the rated pace. The 14.3-pint bucket fills in about 7 hours at the rated pace; plan on the gravity hose or a condensate pump. The white DT501BWR0 is the same ENERGY STAR-listed machine; buy whichever color is cheaper. | Check the built-in humidity reading against a separate hygrometer in week one; a stuck-near-30% or ~20-points-low reading on a new unit is a known return-window fault. Amazon sells Midea 50-pint units with near-identical titles that aren't Cubes (MAD50P1AWS-A, MAD50C1AWS-A). A Cube 50 model number starts MAD50S1 (no pump) or MAD50PS1 (pump). You lift the heavy top section off the bucket to empty it; run it on a hose if you can. |
