Spec Midea U 8,000 BTU U-Shaped Window AC (MAW08V1UWT) LG 8,000 BTU Through-the-Wall AC (LT0816CER) Photo Our score SCORE 7.5 / 10 SCORE 6.0 / 10 Our take The window unit we'd put in a bedroom first: inverter, compressor outside the glass, CEER 15 and a suffix that isn't recalled. Skip it if your window is short or you need heat; no U has a heat mode. Our default for a bedroom with a working 24-26 in class sleeve: LG's manual covers sleeves from nine other brands, and it plugs into a standard 115V outlet. Its CEER of 10.6 sits below DOE's 2026 minimums, so check for a newer inverter wall unit first. Type U-shaped window Through-the-wall Cooling (DOE / SACC) 8,000 BTU 8,000 BTU CEER 15best 10.6 Inverter Yes No Heat mode None None Noise, lowest setting (maker figure) n/a 53 dBA Window width, min 22 in n/a Window width, max 36 in n/a Min sash opening 13.75 in n/a Weight n/a 65 lb Warranty 1 yr 1 yr ENERGY STAR Yes No Watch out for CPSC recall #25320 (June 2025) covers the 8,000-12,000 BTU V1QWT, AV1QWT, W1QWT and U1QWT Midea U models over mold from pooled water. Read the suffix on the listing and again on the box label. Owners of earlier U models report a high-pitched inverter whine some people hear and others don't; buy where returns are easy and run it overnight on low fan in week one. When we checked in October 2026 this listing had no featured offer, only a third-party seller. Comfort Sense (remote sensor) fixes the built-in sensor's wrong room reading. LG strongly recommends a new LG sleeve; if you reuse an old one without redirecting its rear louvers, a failure isn't covered. Warranty is 1 year parts and labor from an LG authorized dealer. Amazon titles it 7,800 BTU; LG rates it 8,000. More Model details Our full review View on Amazon → Model details Our full review View on Amazon →
