Our scoreSCORE6.8 / 10SCORE7.4 / 10
Our takeThe small R-454B multi: 19,000 Btu/h at 5°F and heat to -22°F for two or three small rooms, with a 5,700 Btu/h minimum. Flare-and-vacuum install by a pro.Full rated output at 5°F, the size we'd take for a cold-climate room or garage if a MrCool contractor quotes it fairly. Plan backup heat for -22°F nights, where it tops out at 8,000 BTU/h.

Watch out forMOA outdoor units are listed as R-454B on Senville's pages and NEEP; NEEP lists the MOB units as R-410A, and an owner of an earlier SENA-28HF-MOA reports R-410A. Confirm the refrigerant on the label. Senville's FAQ says owner installs are not supported; the warranty certificate requires a licensed professional, and labor is never covered."E Star" and the O-ES prefix also appear on an older R-410A Olympus (-230B condensers); confirm R-454B and an outdoor model ending -230C-O1. The Olympus listings on Amazon are the legacy R-410A Hyper Heat, not this unit. MrCool's FAQ says an HVAC professional must install it; the warranty's softer "may be necessary" wording doesn't change that.
