Santa Fe Compact70 (part 4044110)

Model 4044110

SCORE7.0 / 10

The crawl space unit we'd buy for a sealed space that stays in the mid-50s or warmer: a published 43.7-pint rating at 65°F, a MERV-13 filter and five years of defect coverage. In a crawl space that runs colder, the cheaper AlorAir HD55S keeps working where this one stops.

Before you buy

  • The older Compact70 (4033600, R410A) is rated 40 pints at 65°F. Amazon's Compact70 Complete Crawl Space Kit listing (B014FV14UO) reports 4033600; check the part number.
  • Santa Fe markets 6 years (5 full replacement + 1 parts); the manual's written terms are 5 years on defects and 6 on components, Santa Fe choosing part or unit, with labor, shipping and filters excluded.
  • Running without a MERV-8, MERV-11 or MERV-13 filter voids the warranty; a correctly sized generic filter (11.38 x 9.00 x 0.75 in) qualifies.
  • Used units bought from third parties and flood-damaged units aren't covered; hang it from the joists if the space can flood.
  • Santa Fe makes no ENERGY STAR claim for it.
