Whynter ARC-1230WNH NEX Inverter Portable AC with Heat

Model ARC-1230WNH

SCORE6.5 / 10

The portable we'd buy: hose-in-hose inverter, 12,000 BTU SACC, a published CEER of 14.2 and a heat pump. The catch is the mail-in warranty and an authorized-dealer requirement.

Before you buy

  • Warranty is 1 year plus 3 years on the compressor, but service is mail-in, only within the 48 contiguous states, needs an authorized Whynter dealer, and you pay return freight after month two.
  • Portable ACs are excluded from ENERGY STAR's room AC program.
  • ARC-1230WN and ARC-1230WN2 are similar inverter models with no heat.
